On Tuesday, March 19, 2024, a five-member team from Unilever Ghana embarked on a trip to Mepe to extend an extra helping hand to the victims of the Akosombo dam spillage. The team generously donated essential relief items such as clothes, books, face towels, Unilever Ghana PLC products, and water to alleviate the hardships faced by the affected individuals.

Led by the District NADMO Officer, Mr. Mac-Anthony Todjo, the Unilever team was warmly received as they presented their donations at the New Safe Haven campsite for victims from Mepe-Degorme. The campsite currently shelters approximately 181 households. The affected families at this location are temporarily accommodated in tents provided by USAID.

During the visit, Mr. Todjo expressed his gratitude for the thoughtful contributions from Unilever Ghana PLC and emphasized the critical role of community support in times of crisis. He also provided insights into the ongoing efforts to assist the flood victims, including the provision of additional safe havens by charitable organizations, politicians, and NGOs.

Despite the challenges they faced, the resilient victims have begun rebuilding their lives by constructing new shelter for themselves. With the support of the assembly and NADMO, efforts are still underway to ensure the well-being and stability of the affected communities.

As life gradually returns to normalcy, the resumption of school activities signifies a hopeful step forward for the affected families. Unilever Ghana PLC remains committed to supporting these communities on their journey to recovery and rebuilding, standing in solidarity with them during their time of need.

The compassionate gesture from Unilever Ghana PLC underscores the company's dedication to corporate social responsibility and its unwavering commitment to making a positive impact in communities across Ghana.
