Nigeria’s top music stars Unite for Close Up

As it launches Close Up Deep Action toothpastes

In July 2012, Unilever Nigeria launched the Close Up Loves Naija campaign – a consumer-focused campaign through which millions of Nigerians across the country could celebrate the strength and uniqueness of the Nigerian spirit, as well as their love for Close Up, which is Nigeria’s No. 1 toothpaste brand.

Throughout the just over two-month long campaign, young people across the country were able to connect with each other and share personal experiences and opinions about what brought and kept them closer, via the Close Up Nigeria Facebook page, which acquired over one hundred thousand (100,000) fans in less than 9 weeks.

Music, Stars & the Close Up Loves Naija Concert

The Close Up Loves Naija campaign kicked off with the release of an exciting custom jingle produced by ace music producer – Cobhams Asuquo. Over eight weeks, young Nigerians across the country tested their musical talents and abilities, as they tried to create their remix of the song, with 13 finalists emerging from the remix competition.

For their outstanding musical efforts, these young finalists shared the stage alongside Nigeria’s finest musical acts – Tu Face Idibia, Naeto C, Omawumi, Ice Prince and Nigeria’s most celebrated DJ Jimmy Jatt – at the Close Up Loves Naija concert, which held in September 2012.

In the middle of his spectacular performance at the concert, MTV Award Winner Tu Face Idibia stopped to thank Close Up for creating a platform for celebrating Nigerian music and the Nigerian spirit.

Launch of Close Up Deep Action

Also at the Close Up Loves Naija concert, Unilever Nigeria launched the new formulation for the popular Close Up Red Hot and Close Up Menthol Chill toothpastes.

Now bearing a new look and composition, the new Close Up Deep Action Red Hot and Close Up Deep Action Menthol Fresh toothpastes offer 3 times fresher breath and 99% protection from germs, giving millions of Nigerians more reasons to get closer.
